This match pitches pencil against pixel as Emory Ocular Invasion Allen pitches his dense organic illustrations and hand-rendered type against Phil Coffmans deep skillset of typography, photography, and good ol clean design.
Emory Allen (@ocularinvasion on the Twitters) comes from a military family, he's lived in a few places in his life including Illinois, Virginia, and Guam. He's currently in Minneapolis practicing the dark art of illustration. The one constant throughout his childhood was a love for drawing, and he believes the ever-changing landscape of cities and faces bred a curiosity and imagination that he carries into his work. In today's match watch for some illustrative storytelling featuring his hallmarks: hand-drawn type and monsters
Phil Coffman (@philcoffman) is an art director based in Austin, TX with a passion for pixel-perfect designs, Photoshop documents at 3200%, and an undying hatred of blurry pixels. He's been creating websites, user interfaces, and digital imagery since 2000. He's currently at Springbox, slinging pixels with with the same enthusiasm as when he first started. He finds his great reward in providing clear, helpful, and beautiful experiences for site users. When not busy with client work, he's building a side project called Method & Craft. It's a labor of love that he's anxious to release to the design community soon.
