Brontosaurus. Never Forget.

Earlier this year, the blogosphere learned that the Brontosaurus dinosaur doesn't actually exist because the specimens found turned out to actually be of another previously discovered dinosaur called Apatosaurus. So, no more Brontosaurus even though it's likely the most famous dinosaur in the world (except for the T. Rex perhaps).

That's all mere semantics, but it's a reminder of the Brontosaurus's actual demise, perhaps by asteroid, about 65 million years ago. And Mig's volley reminds us that what happened to the dinosaurs can also happen to humans. Things have already turned grim with the second volley with what looks like an interplanetary disaster...that crowd rushing, the red and orange (the danger colors!), and the exposed core of the Earth combined with the dinosaur harbinger are all very worrisome. Will Weaver pick up on the disaster motif or deflect that particular asteroid from our match?

Stylistically, both of these volleys are fantastically retro and very much to my liking. Again, the secret ingredient is not being used in a central way (as it must be on Iron Chef), but Mark and Mig are just getting warmed up, I'm sure.

BTW, Mig can be caught live on Ustream while he works, which is either brave or stupid. We'll see!
