Wed like to welcome Mark Weaver to the match!
Mark has finally broken the stylistic mold, returning to his own "look" for a doozy of a volley. If the plan was to disarm (no pun intended) Emory with his own style in #2 and #4, he's saved three of his five volleys to give the fans what they wanted.
Continuing the Oh-No-Mr.-Bill theme, Weaver has buried the tiny red underdog under the waves, but this time in his inimitable graphic style. The hand is particularly well-crafted, note the fingers are rounded on one side and squared on the other, crystallizing at least one detail of the red man's formerly somewhat-amporphous shape. The type is spot on (who doesn't love wide-tracked Futura Bold?), the palette is solid, there's nothing not to love about this layer, unless you're a tiny red dude and/or Emory Allen.
Soundtrack-wise, what if I told you there are two UK bands formed in the post-punk era that went on to global superstardom, both of which had early throwaway tracks called "Drowning Man" That's right, I'm talking about U2 and The Cure. And years later and miles away, another postpunk legend wrote a great little ditty about a red right hand.
Play by play commentary for this match is provided, as it happens, by Bryan Bedell.
Our friends and longtime sponsors at Adobe have a quick survey for Layer Tennis fans. It would mean a lot to us if you could take a couple minutes between layers to answer some simple questions. Thanks a million.
Congratulations to Mig Reyes, Layer Tennis Season 3 Champion.

Here's how the voting works. Decide who you'd like to declare as winner and then simply tweet their first name following a hash mark. Either #mig or #noper and, this is important, also include #lyt in that tweet. We'll leave the voting open all weekend and announce our Season Three Champion on Monday.
