Back to the Beach

If Mark Weaver gives you lemons, squeeze those f**kers, wait for lunar gravity and global weather systems to spark up some rad curls, and surf that s**t.

My surfing vocabulary is based entirely on fifteen minutes at Venice Beach shooting a yet-unseen Ref coin flip last month and a weekend on Cape Cod in 1986, so that's probably not the exact way a real surfer would phrase it, but you get the point. Emory’s qualifier match visited the beach on layer 5, so I guess it’s a tradition now. So strap on your Vuarnets and Jams, dab your nose with some Zinka, and get out there, dude. Forget about her, she was too hairy anyway. Unless you were into that. OK, sorry, stop crying.

If you actually remember Zinka, this one's for you. OMG that guitar is awesome. Believe it or not, circa 1986, those guys actually had a little bit of punk cred.

Play by play commentary for this match is provided, as it happens, by Bryan Bedell.
