AhHA! No sooner had Oleg and Adam begun to harmonize in their stirring rendition of kumbaya when the knives came out. ladies and gentlemen, we have reached mid-game.
This manhole is slightly ajar, as all are in Russian says Oleg. "Why is that?" I asked. "Because of traditional russian light-mindedness, carelessness and negligence," he replied. "Can I quote you on that," I said, "because there's ain't no way I am going to express that as MY opinion. I already got the Belgians breathing down my neck."
When I saw the thumbnail of this image, I at first thought it was the Cheshire Cat, malevolently grinning until only the grin remains. Perhaps he can provide some guidance as to how the second half of the match should unfold.
"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where---"
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cat.
"---So long as I get somewhere."
"Oh you're sure to do that," said the Cat, "if you only walk long enough."
Too bad we left the boots and socks behind--it seems we still have some walking ahead of us.
Play by play commentary for this match is provided, as it happens, by Matthew Baldwin.
