Simple and restrained. A lovely amphibious animation with lots of room for whatever comes next. I expected the unexpected from Hansen’s serve and I imagine Inman did too.
The color palette is sweet and the synth sound is as wet as the bottom of a lily pad. I'm assuming Hansen has the same vintage synth and analog reverb set-up he used against Koxvold in Round One of the Playoffs. Shaun is a musician too, so it'll be interesting to see if and where that goes.
We've talked a lot about whether it's an advantage to go first. The records show that in general, servers win more matches that returners, but I don't know. I think that having all night to come up with something can be intimidating and cause players to overwork things. Maybe that's what Hansen was thinking too. Instead, maybe he just tossed up something elegant and open-ended and is willing to see where it goes from there.
Kiss me Shaun. See what happens then. Ribbit.
