Time Is Just a Counting System

I should have mentioned this before, but the music that accompanies these volleys is all being made live in the studio by Scott’s alter ego Tycho, all on 80s analog synths with 70s digital reverbs. My ear is just that good, which is how I know that.

Layer 4 definitely expands the cinematic vocabulary into Blade Runner territory. The numbers have changed, except maybe they haven't. Four and five are nine, five and seven are twelve! The mind sees patterns and meaning everywhere, especially where it shouldn't.

I just realized that I've had all the layers open in different windows and the sound they make together is just amazing. I hadn't even realized I was listening to four different tracks. Reminds me of the time BB brought that Flaming Lips album (I think it was called Zaireeka) into the studio that contained four discs meant to be played all at once. Before Layer Tennis, that was the kind of thing we used to do at Coudal instead of work.

Play by play commentary for this match is provided, as it happens, by Kevin Guilfoile.
