Whu-oh! The natives are getting restless. Phineas from the crowd says: "I like Potts and Draplin both, but I am already over this match. #lyt should be more than illustrated instant messaging."
Puts feet up on porch and lights corncob pipe. I've been doing this Layer Tennis thing for a long time and I don't even know what it's about. But perhaps Phineas, if that is your real name, has a point here. The three layers presented so far could be looked at as a gussied-up iChat. But if you look past the chit chat, there's a real battle of the wills going on. Each player is refusing to let the other dictate look and feel. All that high falutin' improv crap I talked about after the first volley appears to be out the window; these players are at each other.
Let's move on to more sartorial matters. Potts has changed his clothes. Well, his tie anyway. The bow is gone and a brown flowery thing has replaced it. My mind reels and wanders as I consider what this change means, you know, metaphorically. What is Potts trying to say? Less formal, his hair is down? But he's still in a suit. How many more ties will we see in this match?
Oh, and what's that picture taped up on Potts' wall with blue painter's tape. Classy!
Play by play commentary for this match is provided, as it happens, by Jason Kottke.
