This is Layer 2 by Aaron Draplin      Tools:

Jason Kottke's Layer 2 Commentary

Samdalf the Brooklyn Halfling

Draplin artfully deflects the bear wrestling and trades jokes for games, specifically a game of design-themed Dungeons and Dragons.

The round two shot, even more than the opening volley, sets the tone for the match. Both players have showed their respective hands[1] and are settling into a nice rhythm. But Draplin's return so different from the Potts serve in terms of style and tone that I have no idea where this is going. Potts may persist with his bear wrestling theme but I have a hunch he'll take Draplin's lead here even though Draplin didn't really do the same with his return. Lovely stuff so far though.

Oh, and a word about Potts' opening volley: that was not John Hodgman in the bow tie. NOT THAT YOU CARE.

[1] Fair warning[2], I'm am going to get ugly today with the mixed sports/games metaphors. I can't help it...I stayed up way too late last night watching the Lakers/Magic game and those sportscasters are way worse than Thomas Friedman.

[2] I am also probably going to be heavy on the footnotes.
