I sit in the airport, clutching my boarding pass to keep my hands from shaking with excitement. I feel the past crumbling behind me and nod with grim satisfaction.
I will be in Sweden in a mere 37 hours, including the layover in Oslo ("Scandinavia's Shame"). Both Jakob and Joakim told me they'd meet me at the Stockholm-Arlanda Airport, abandoning their lives in Norway ("Nothing but fjords and pederasty") and England to be with me.
The question is: Which one will claim my heart? At first it was a no-brainer: Jakob. Jakob, Jakob ... The One Who Wrote Me Back.
But after all we've been through, the sickening twists and turns, the betrayal of my American heritage, the selling out of Swedish culture, etc., I'm not sure what to do.
But maybe you can help me decide.
