Someone knows how to serve!
I'm gonna let you in on some inside info (though if you'd thought about the Layer Tennis process, you would have stumbled onto this secret yourself). Players only have 15 minutes to compose their volleys--except for the server. By virtue of going first, and not having to play off or incorporate any preexisting material or motifs, they can labor over their initial upload for as long as they like. An hour. A day. Some aspiring designer is probably working on a rough draft of their first volley now, and will polish it until the day they are invited to compete.
But as in any sport, too much time to think often yields disastrous result. The opening shot has too much, is overly crowded, embeds a flash video that took a fortnight to create. Thankfully, But Does It Float knows that the best plays are born of pure instinct: quick, brief, and devastating.
ISO50 has a lot to work with here, and BDiF's "1% theme" is a gift that will keep on giving for the duration of the match. Something tells me that we're going to be seeing a lot of that 1% here today.
Play by play commentary for this match is provided, as it happens, by Matthew Baldwin.
