This is Layer 9 by Tom Muller      Tools:

Bryan Bedell's Layer 9 Commentary

Not My Type

See, it’s not, get it? it's Muller’s, a little custom jobbie he’s been working on.

It occurs to me now that Tom likes concentric circles a lot. Backstage, he seems a bit deflated over this last volley, but it's not so bad, really, if that was orange instead of red, and Kevin hadn't cropped out the moth wings, it'd be a pretty decent shot. Custom type has popped up in Layer Tennis a couple times in the past, and it's usually a hit. There are certainly enough typefaces out there already, but that doesn't stop any designer from getting excited about new ones, I just wish we'd see a little more of it. There is something pleasantly kinetic about the background, too.

Checking out the comments (finally!) I see it may not be as bad as Muller feared, he ends his match with a lot of support, which is good to see. Comments overall have been more positive in the past couple weeks, which I attribute to the fact that I've wrangled many of the haters to play in a qualifier, which has done wonders for their empathy. If you want to play in a qualifier, just twitter #lytmeh or "#worstmatchever" and don't worry, I'll find you.

SOUNDTRACK: is coming up, and every time I say that, I get that crappy Paul McCartney song stuck in my head. Check out my proto-dynamic hyper-comments!

SOUNDTRACK: Just to make a rave flyer joke, I was looking for some 808 State and accidentally found this song I've been trying to track down for almost 20 years now: MC Tunes and 808 State sampling Stone Roses. Rave on!
