German Shepherd Fairey

Are we sure those dogs weren’t adapted from an AP photo?

An army of K E R N D O G Gs comes to Muller's rescue, and things start to lean a bit more towards the orangeness that will surely encompass this match. The type looks like it came from a high school drama production of Starlight Express, or maybe a 70s British sci fi show.

In this commentator's humble opinion, Muller's wandering away from his strengths here a bit, he'll do well to keep focused on simplicity and style. Every volley doesn't need to be a cacophony of elements and layers. He's going a bit rave-flyer here, and I'd rather see the simple modern design he knows best. I'm also not a fan of the "Take this/bring it on" school of Layer Tennis, though others may be. I'd tone down the rhetoric and look for a narrative here. Of course that's easy to say, I'm not the one dripping sweat on my keyboard here. Actually I am, it's actually warm in Chicago today, for the first time in about six months.

SOUNDTRACK: Mark Mothersbaugh in short shorts. You know, because it's anthemic and all.

Play by play commentary for this match is provided, as it happens, by Bryan Bedell.
