Awww. Let it be known that the Fail Whale is a stand-up kinda whale. She's feeding the offspring of those poor birds that got shot down. And there's the blue border from my web site! (More soon!)
Can you feel the love? (Yes, I'm stealing from the last match I did commentary for. So?) Fail Whale sightings on the web are way down now that Twitter has gotten their infrastructure act together. But there was a time when the Fail Whale was really hated. Like despised. HULK SMASH FAIL WHALE! GET IN WAY OF TWEETING TO 2,000 PEOPLE I DON'T KNOW ABOUT HULK'S SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERTISE. Stuff like that. But Jennifer shows that the Fail Whale is a pretty nice sea dweller, not to be SMASHed at all.
Oh and the blue zoom border from kottke.org has made it into the match. First person on Twitter to complain that Jennifer's volley would look better with the old kottke.org design gets the wet tshirt photos and a punch in the face.
ps. to Jennifer: kottke.org Fail Whale.
Play by play commentary for this match is provided, as it happens, by Jason Kottke.

Tomorrow we continue our series of live, experimental Layer Tennis Exhibitions with a motion graphics match between Matt Smithson and Daniel Oeffinger. As usual, the action starts at 2pm Chicago time. Check the time in your area. What is unusual is that the match won't finish until next Thursday. We'll be posting two layers per weekday. We've always wondered what would happen if we gave a couple artists a lot more time to do each volley and this week we'll find out. Commentary is by Jason Koxvold, who knows a little something about LYT and mo-graf. Jason's Match Preview has been posted and so has the coin-flip.
Naz and Sam Peeling Back the Layers on last Friday's amazing photographic and musical live Layer Tennis Match. No Tennis this week by the way, we'll be back live on the 19th
