Ah, the Fail Whale has rescued our zombie Jesus in distress from her maddening Twitter stream.
Twitter is frakking everywhere these days. I talked to some financial guy the other day who only watches CNBC -- he mainlines it right into his veins actually -- and he was telling me about some new thing called Twitter that John McCain was using. When I told him that my wife had started a company a few years ago with one of the founders of Twitter, his head exploded. He looked a little like our zombie construction worker, actually.
At some point, every Layer Tennis match becomes a battle of ideas. It might start out with a few style volleys here and there, but there's only so much you can do there. Jennifer is getting a lot of flack on the Twitter (see! there it is AGAIN!) for not adding much to the match today, but I disagree. Design and illustration isn't about how much visual stuff you can add to your canvas. It's about the ideas. And what Jennifer does is strip things away until all that's left is the essence of something. Twitter's your problem? No worries, the service is down, the Fail Whale is here for your comfort.
Your move, Jillian. (I'd suggest removing the bikini but Jim has, from the owner's box, told everyone to keep it PG-13.)
Play by play commentary for this match is provided, as it happens, by Jason Kottke.
