A Grey and Pleasant Land

And they’re off. We’re only on the first round but already Cookie has foxed me.

I was expecting something bright and full of colour, every inch crammed with goodness, but instead it's a very understated piece in one colour. Nice work!

Delightfully light, it shows a sketchy portrait of not the British Isles exactly, but a British Isle. The sort of British Isle that would result if you boiled the actual British Isles down and chucked out the rubbish bits. There are rolling hills, charming candy-striped lighthouses (vital for all those rocky shores), a cosy bothy (that's Scots for "wee hut") and our dear chum Nessie, guarding the eastern shore in case those tricky Vikings get up to their tricks again.

I have to hang my head in shame and say that I didn't know Albion was the oldest name for Britain. These boys have done their homework and already I've learnt something. And the rabbit, well who knows what that's all about? Whatever's in that glass looks like strong stuff though. He's through the rabbit hole alright.

With that intriguing "Once upon a time..." line we're at the start of an incredible journey. Who knows where it will lead?
