In the language of horror films the thing we fear most is the thing just out of frame, the thing we know is lurking there right around 18 or 19 on our 16:9 aspect ratio, the thing Jamie Lee Curtis should know is there because she’s in the room for cripes sake and it’s not really all that dark, but man is it scary. Waiting for it to pounce is unbearable. Just turn your head! Swing that coat hanger! It’s right there!
There has been another demon here all along, a demon helper to our samurai, which is why he's been so cool about this so far. The samurai has been working with a team of sexy RN's and scaly teal demons and this particular monster has got attitude to spare as he plucks out the eye of our evil vampyre-making moundfather, while simultaneously giving the other members of our unholy dirt trinity the finger. That's the way we do it in mixed media b*****s!
It might not be entirely clear to people following along, but Dan and Phineas have discovered the Coudal sticker machine (I'm sure there's a fancier name for it than that, sorry). A machine where you could make an infinite number of stickers of your own design would be the equivalent of a golden-egg laying goose for my five year old, and from the looks on Dan and Phineas's faces right now--well, I don't think our obscene demon hand will be the last image produced in that medium today. I suspect Layer Tennis is about to get real-world layered. And sticky.

Tomorrow we continue our series of live, experimental Layer Tennis Exhibitions with a motion graphics match between Matt Smithson and Daniel Oeffinger. As usual, the action starts at 2pm Chicago time. Check the time in your area. What is unusual is that the match won't finish until next Thursday. We'll be posting two layers per weekday. We've always wondered what would happen if we gave a couple artists a lot more time to do each volley and this week we'll find out. Commentary is by Jason Koxvold, who knows a little something about LYT and mo-graf. Jason's Match Preview has been posted and so has the coin-flip.
