Birds! We all know what birds mean in a Hong Kong Kung Fu flick: Hope! Or maybe they symbolize the never-ending agrarian class struggle against feudal/political oppression. I’m going with hope. Or sex. Birds could mean sex. Probably not here, though. Definitely hope. In sexy nurse novels, birds are mostly birds, except in dialogue where birds are sexy nurses.
These sexy nurses have come to the aid of our samurai warrior, who appears angry at the narrator's half-assed western conflation of classic fifties Japanese cinema with inferior eighties Hong Kong Fu. Dan has brought some color back into the picture, subtly, beautifully, staying within the restrained pallete of Phineas's serve. There are flowers now, just buds, a sign that either better things are on the horizon or that worse things--slimy, horrible, infested things--are lurking beneath the surface.
Even more instant making of video with Dan and Phineas.
