Justin Cone's Layer 1 Commentary

The Planets Are Aligning

Film noir astrology is a highly under-appreciated genre, so I'm glad to see Werk kicking things off with a strong nod in that direction.

I spent a few moments puzzling over this one, trying to decode some hidden meaning. The planet --or are they moons? (which are basically planets with inferiority complexes) --are dangerously close to each other's orbits. Perhaps we're laying the groundwork for some intergalactic drama later?

But what really ratchets up the level of mystery is the presence of the spinning pyramid. As someone with the last name "Cone," I am extra-sensitive to pyramids. They are like a distant, slightly more uptight relative to the cone. In terms of structural engineering, pyramids are easier to build.

And then there's the puzzling red death ray. My memory feels wiped clean. Where was I? What was I saying?
