This is Layer 7 by Rod Hunting      Tools:

Matthew Baldwin's Layer 7 Commentary

Siete

Backwards and backwards. Now even the medium--paper, if you remember that stuff--looks old, yellow and torn. I envision a timepiece on wall, it's hands frenetically spinning counter-clockwise. Or perhaps a patient on a psychologist's coach--hypnotist standing over him, pocket watch swinging like pendulum--his memories running in reverse, revisiting his earliest days, recalling a scrap of notebook and an enigmatic face that would haunt his days.

Lots of code words in the volley. Muy Agreciably means greatly appreciated; million de gracias is bountiful gratitude. Maybe Rod is responding to Mitch's overtures of friendship, agreeing to play nice from here on out. Maybe that's exactly what Mitch wants, before he pulls the dagger.

And Dado de oportuninidad means, um, "finger of artichoke"? I think? Honestly, the old es-span-yo is a little rusty. But perhaps that's a sign that Rod intends to peel off the "layers" of this competition, one by one, and uh, dip them in butter, and ... crap, that's probably not right. Is babelfish.altavista.com still online?
