Inman's nausea is my fond candy-colored plastic nostalgia. I'm just not feeling it with this one. The charts, yes, are clean and cruft-free. Edward Tufte would approve, I suspect. But to what end? I'm neither impressed nor amused. I've got the suspicion that Inman rushed this one, that he's holding back the good stuff for his parting shot two volleys from now. That's a dangerous game to play.
If there's any strategy here, it's defensive. Perhaps Inman smells blood in the water, and thinks he can deflate Glass's ego by disparaging his previous volley as "nauseating" and derivative. There's a visual connection to the previous volleys, with my buddy the drinking glass appearing as an icon in the chart's key. But where does Chris Glass take it from here?
And this is a real stretch -- at this point I'm getting loopy on the fumes from repeatedly hitting "Reload" in Safari -- but the glasses-in-circle icon has a similar feel to the Star Wars Galactic Empire.
