Art imitates commentary. On the last volley I speculated that this match may tell a tale in reverse. First the blood, then the blood-letters. And now, the blood letters, as Jason reveals the sordid history behind the Zombi.
A clever blending of the first two volleys: Brian's adorable little monster set inside a tome I can only assume was written by the "Mad Arab" Abdul Alhazred. Again, Jason strives to bring everything together into a unified whole. Will Brian play along, or will his second return be as jarring as the first?
Of course, the sheer amount of text ("all written in 15 minutes? Wha-?") give Brian plenty to play with. But notice this interesting twist: the only real visual elements lobbed over the net are the Fawn itself (which Brian created), and the stylized T. A neat conundrum, that. Give your opponent plenty of ideas, but few tools with which to realize them.
On the surface Jason seems to be playing nice, but his real strategy may be more nefarious than any of us realize.
Play by play commentary for this match is provided, as it happens, by Matthew Baldwin.
