A surprising play from Cornell: photo-realism from an illustrator.
My two favorite Layer Tennis shots are the Twist (taking the previous shot and inverting the concept, moving in a new angle) and the Encapsulation (taking the previous shot, leaving the concept as-is, but wrapping it in something larger). This shot is Encapsulation at its best.
The primary question with each shot: Do you build on the previous volley's image, or build on its concept?
I love the idea that you get a snail-mail confirmation for signing up for a social-software web site.
My eye keeps getting drawn to that stain on the envelope.
Overall, a great shot: clever and amusing on its own; but deep in the corner, perhaps boxing Inman in conceptually. Where do you take this from here?
