Comments On The Serve

On Fire

The two key shots in Layer Tennis: the serve, which can be prepared a day in advance; and the final volley, which cannot be answered. A great serve is one that delights the audience while at the same time puts your opponent on his heels. Cornell has not disappointed.

Exuberant in detail. Restrained in palette. What exactly is in that man's case?

This just in from sideline reporter Jim Coudal: Apparently, this is Cornell's depiction of Inman's hometown of Chattanooga. Hard to predict how this fact will color Inman's return volley.
